Onboarding: Site Requirements Guide

To ensure that your site is ready to install your Revonu Cloud POS hardware, please follow this Site Requirements Guide.

Introduction
Your business has already begun the implementation process, but there are a few onsite requirements you will need to ensure our services work properly.  We would like to get you up and running as quickly as possible, so please make sure that your site is already equipped with the necessary wiring and placement to install the hardware where you would like.

This would include:
  1. Working internet
  2. Direct access to the network
  3. Power for the devices
Please be aware that the cost of cabling services is not provided by Revonu and is therefore not included in your quote. Should you require professional help, Revonu can recommend you a Field Technician to assist. Their services are not covered by Revonu POS.

Quick Site Checklist
  1. Power is available within 7 ft of each Revonu device. This would include:
    1. Point of Sale Terminals
    2. Receipt Printers
    3. Credit Card Devices
    4. Kitchen Printers
    5. KDS Screens
    6. Label Printers
    7. Caller ID Devices

  2. Your internet modem is turned on and has a port available for Revonu.
  3. Network cables are run to each place where a Revonu device will be located.
  4. All network cables should have ends (RJ45) on them
  5. All network cables are run back to the designated central networking area.
  6. For restaurants with ceilings over 10 ft height or larger establishments, access points might need to be installed.
  7. Point of sale work areas should have a dedicated space for the hardware and holes to accommodate the cables (power, ethernet).
  8. Wall mounts are installed (if applicable).

Construction We do not recommend installing your hardware prior to, or during, any onsite construction. Hardware can be easily damaged and will not be replaced. Wiring may get unplugged or moved, resulting in time-consuming fixes. Please consult us at 1-800-577-0195 with any questions you may have.

Internet Requirements

  1. A stable broadband connection is required
  2. Minimum internet bandwidth of 15 Mbps of download and 10 Mbps of upload speed is required, subject to devices connected on the network. Available bandwidth is affected by local network traffic and your Internet connection.
  3. Revonu POS can be used wirelessly on Android, iOS and Revonu Go (handheld) Devices
  4. If public Wi-Fi is available to your consumers, it should have its own dedicated connection
IMPORTANT: Wi-Fi, Access Points and/or Ethernet Wired devices must be on the same IP range and subnet. If they are not on the same network, the devices will not communicate with card readers, printers and/or KDS devices.
  1. If internet-enabled cameras are installed, they should have their own dedicated connection
  2. Revonu device should be on all the time while being used and not be put to sleep, including Android, iOS and Revonu Go devices. ( Revonu needs to be constantly downloading the check information from the other devices (if setup with more than one station/device), putting to sleep will cause delay in downloads and might cause loss of data.
  3. For mobile terminals that are used in a location where multiple Wi-Fi Access Points are installed, there is a chance of wireless interference between devices. Here are some steps to minimize interference:
    1. Connect devices to 5GHz band on your wireless network as possible.
    2. Configure your wireless access point SSID of your network manually to channels on the 5GHz bands.
    3. Setup static IP address on printers, EMV and other peripherals. Reserve this IP address on the Router.
    4. Place your Wi-Fi router or access point in the middles of the room as possible or use Mesh Wi-Fi system setup for better coverage.
    5. Avoid any electrical cable run together with the Ethernet cable (CAt5/6) on all wired devices.

Network Requirements
  1. Category 5e or greater network cable should be used
  2. Network cable shouldn't be run along electrical or any high voltage lines
  3. All network cables should be terminated with either an RJ45 cap or keystone jack (wall plate with female connector)
  4. There are limitation with number of terminals operating via a wireless network. Here are some recommendations:

    Number of Devices
    Minimum Download Speed
    Minimum Upload Speed
    1-5
    25
    10
    5-10
    50
    10
    10-20
    75
    20

  5. These are suggested requirements. Each network varies. Speed subject to how many non-POS devices you have on the network.

Electrical Requirements
  1. Electric outlets should be in close proximity to each Precision device
  2. Battery backup devices (UPS) are highly recommended on all network devices
  3. Battery backup devices (UPS) are highly recommended on each terminal
  4. Surge protectors are allowed.
